Kingston 16GB DataTraveler G3 – no LED

I’ve got an old Kingston 2GB flash drive and I love it. It’s never failed, it’s damn solid construction, and I love the little LED light on it that flashes when it’s reading or writing.

Do you need a LED light on your flash drive? No, there’s really no reason you would. But I like it – and I missed it when it was gone.

2GB became a little cramped so I upgraded to an 8GB Staples brand flash drive. Thanks Staples. In less than 3 months, the cover broke off. And it didn’t have an LED. I was really missing that LED.

So I went shopping for another flash drive, but Best Buy (who I hate for a number of reasons – but it’s close by so I still shop there on occasion) didn’t have any Kingstons in the store. They did have a sweet deal on a HP model. And again, no LED on the HP flash drive.

I was missing that LED more than ever so I thought I’d just buy a Kingston online. But I wanted to first make sure that the newer Kingston models had the LED. A quick Google provided me with – nothing. No one mentions the LED. They don’t say included or not included – it’s just not mentioned at all. Not on Amazon, not on other sites, not even on Kingston’s website!

But one website (which shall remain nameless) gave me the info I needed. It said YES, the newer models still have the LED light. So I ordered one. Guess what – they were wrong!

Stick this in your Google results – The Kingston 16GB DataTraveler G3 does not have an LED light!

So now I have two new huge flash drives – and no LED. I really miss that LED.

RnB?

Ok – ‘rock and roll’ can be spelled ‘rock & roll’ and even ‘rock n roll’.
And ‘drum and bass’ is frequently shortened to ‘DNB’ or ‘DnB’.
But I don’t think ‘R&B’ is ever shortened to ‘RnB’ like I did in my last post.
I could go in and edit it but I’d rather just call myself out for that brain fart.

99.9

I was recording all my vinyl last year (it took so long I may have started in 2008 or 2009) and I stopped last year when I was 99.something percent done. All that was remaining was a bunch of B-sides that I didn’t care about. Our Darkness by Anne Clarke – classic. The b-side ‘The Sitting Room’ – yeah, whatever.

So I finished those up today – and Excel says that my recording project is 99.9027 percent complete. Why not 100?
Goddamn J.M. Silk! That’s why!
I’ve got a nasty scratch on Music Is The Key and the Basement Key version just ain’t gonna play without skipping.

Also, I should say ‘the first part of my recording project’. It took literally years to do this part (time management ain’t always my strength) – and that was only the top 4 ‘good crates’ of music. I’ve still got 6 more crates to go through – a lot of it is complete shit, but there is some good and even great stuff in there that just didn’t fit into those 4 main crates at whatever time I sorted them.

Curtis McClain is sitting in one of those ‘lesser’ crates with a bunch of his friends yelling “Lets get busy!”
Maybe next month….year….sigh

House-mixes jukebox

House-Mixes is a handy website, but their jukebox is very buggy. I had it on the main page and set it up so it would NOT auto-play, but it would ignore my wishes and auto-play anyway.

So I stuck it on it’s own seperate page available from the menu at the top.
So you can click up there whenever you want to hear the latest mixes from me, and it will probably start to play immediately even though I told it not too.

Doofus alert

Sigh.
I haven’t posted any mixes for a while – so I posted a recent one yesterday.
I uploaded it here, to Mininova, to Piratebay, and to House-Mixes.
It was only after I had uploaded it EVERYWHERE that I found out that I mis-labeled it and it was the wrong mix.
It was still a decent mix but I had attached the wrong tracklist to it and I’m a stickler for accuracy.
So now I have to delete it everywhere and re-upload it.
