Song of the Day: Baby Ford – Children Of The Revolution / Oochy Koochy / Ford Trax

I love Baby Ford’s second album – Ooo, The World Of Baby Ford.
I don’t know if I had heard something from it or if I just bought it because it was a cut-out on sale for like two bucks.
His first album, Ford Trax, which I heard much later, I recall as being pretty raw – simple beats and acid.
The second was a perfect mix of pop music and club sounds.
The third album, BFord9, was much less poppy and more techno but still cool.
Anything I have heard from him after that was experimental and minimal – and pure crap.

I picked up this single since I loved the album so much, but the Children remixes aren’t nearly as good as the album version.

Kingston 16GB DataTraveler G3 – no LED

I’ve got an old Kingston 2GB flash drive and I love it. It’s never failed, it’s damn solid construction, and I love the little LED light on it that flashes when it’s reading or writing.

Do you need a LED light on your flash drive? No, there’s really no reason you would. But I like it – and I missed it when it was gone.

2GB became a little cramped so I upgraded to an 8GB Staples brand flash drive. Thanks Staples. In less than 3 months, the cover broke off. And it didn’t have an LED. I was really missing that LED.

So I went shopping for another flash drive, but Best Buy (who I hate for a number of reasons – but it’s close by so I still shop there on occasion) didn’t have any Kingstons in the store. They did have a sweet deal on a HP model. And again, no LED on the HP flash drive.

I was missing that LED more than ever so I thought I’d just buy a Kingston online. But I wanted to first make sure that the newer Kingston models had the LED. A quick Google provided me with – nothing. No one mentions the LED. They don’t say included or not included – it’s just not mentioned at all. Not on Amazon, not on other sites, not even on Kingston’s website!

But one website (which shall remain nameless) gave me the info I needed. It said YES, the newer models still have the LED light. So I ordered one. Guess what – they were wrong!

Stick this in your Google results – The Kingston 16GB DataTraveler G3 does not have an LED light!

So now I have two new huge flash drives – and no LED. I really miss that LED.

Song of the Day: Beat Mekanik – Pulse

I really like this song – probably because it’s some wierd hybrid of Chicago house and some of the industrial/Wax Trax type stuff that was also being made in Chicago.
Because it didn’t quite fit the standard house mold, I don’t think it got a lot of love from other DJs, but it’s in my crates of favorites.

Chicago House / Techno Mix – 06/05/2011

A mix from my Infinity Tunes broadcast on June 5, 2011.
This is certainly the best live Ableton mix I’ve done so far. Funny how these things just appear out of nowhere. I went in with nothing prepared and I thought two things – I’ll alternate between classic house and techno songs and I’ll try to have at least
two songs playing at all times.
I even got it up to 5 songs at once around the 86 minute mark and it
sounded surprisingly good.
To pat myself on the back a bit – I think this is the best live mix I’ve
done so far and again – it’s just scratching the surface of Ableton’s
abilities.
